Is the CV score really free?

Yes. Upload your CV and you get a score with the reasons behind it, without paying and without an account. The score compares your CV against what the job adverts in your area actually ask for. It is a guide, not a decision: no score can promise an interview.

What does tailoring my CV to a job actually change?

Accepted Answer

It rewrites your CV against one specific advert, so the words that employer used are the words your CV uses, and the experience that matters for that role is nearer the top. It will not invent experience you do not have. If an advert asks for something that is not on your CV, we tell you it is missing rather than writing it in for you.

Can I download my CV and use it anywhere?

Yes. Every CV and cover letter you create is yours, downloads as a PDF, and can be sent anywhere you like. There is no watermark and nothing ties it to us. They are also saved to your profile, so you can find an old one months later rather than starting again.

Question 4

Do you write cover letters too?

Yes, against the specific job, using your CV. Like the CV, it works from what you have actually done.

Where do the jobs come from?

Accepted Answer

They are real, live adverts from UK job boards, filtered to the kinds of work we cover: education, early years, health and social care, and support work. We do not post the jobs ourselves and we are not the employer. Applying takes you to whoever advertised it.

Question 6

What does the match percentage mean?

It is how much of what the advert asks for already appears on your saved CV. It is worked out by comparing the two directly, not by an opinion, so the same CV and advert always give the same number. It is a guide. A lower percentage does not mean do not apply, and a high one does not mean you will get it. The useful part is underneath: which of the advert's terms your CV already covers, and which it never mentions.

Can I keep track of what I have applied for?

Yes. Save a job or mark it applied and it goes on your tracker, with the next sensible step for each one. If an application has been sitting for a week with no reply, we say so, because chasing it is usually the thing that moves it.

Question 8

How does interview practice work?

Accepted Answer

You pick the role, and you get asked the questions that role is actually asked, one at a time. You can answer out loud or type. At the end you get feedback on each answer. Talking mode reads the question to you and listens for your answer, so it is closer to the real thing than reading questions off a page.

Do you keep a recording of my voice?

Your answer is turned into text so it can be marked, and it is the text we keep, attached to your own practice session. We do not use your voice to train anything and we do not share it. You can always type instead. Typing gets exactly the same feedback.

Question 10

The question is not reading out loud. What now?

Accepted Answer

First check the silent switch on the side of your phone, which mutes web audio on iPhones even when the volume is up. If it still will not speak, the interview works perfectly without the voice: the question is on the screen and you can type your answer. If a spoken answer will not send, the screen will tell you and offer you the typed box.

Why does a jobs site sell courses?

Because a lot of the jobs will not take you without them. Safeguarding, first aid and food safety are asked for by name in the adverts, and not having them is the reason plenty of good applications go nowhere. The courses are here as the thing that qualifies you for the work, not as the product.

Do I get a certificate?

Yes. Pass the end-of-course check and your certificate is issued straight away, downloadable as a PDF with your name on it, and kept in your account so you can send it again later.

Question 13

Do I need a DBS check?

Accepted Answer

For almost any job working with children or vulnerable adults, yes, and it usually needs to be an enhanced one. You cannot apply for an enhanced DBS yourself: an employer or an agency has to request it for you. So it is not something to sort out before you start applying, and not having one yet should not stop you.

How do I cancel?

Accepted Answer

In the app, on your billing page, in one click. No email, no phone call, no notice period. Cancelling stops the next payment and you keep everything you are paying for until the end of the period you have already paid for.

If I cancel, do I lose my CV and certificates?

Accepted Answer

No. Certificates you have earned stay yours, and CVs and cover letters you have already created stay downloadable.

Question 16

Can I delete my account and my data?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Email us and we will delete your account and the personal data attached to it. Under UK GDPR that is your right, and our privacy policy sets out exactly what we hold and why.
