What you'll learn

• Understand what safeguarding and child protection mean in a school, and that safeguarding is everyone's responsibility
• Recognise the four categories of abuse and neglect and the signs a child may be at risk
• Respond appropriately when a child discloses, and understand child-on-child abuse and the Prevent duty
• Know how to report concerns to the designated safeguarding lead (DSL) and the four areas of online safety risk (content, contact, conduct, commerce)
• Understand confidentiality, record-keeping and information sharing in line with KCSIE 2025 and Working Together to Safeguard Children
